We've got to remove a 10'x15'ish bed of fist sized rocks. Initially, there were two I got one bed finished....It was 60°F and it was horrible, one of the worst jobs I've done (alsmost a bad as changing my leaf springs last summer @ 95°F. I used a flat nose and round nose shovel. We're not going to rent an excavator for such a small job. Is a pitch fork and maybe a pick axe the only option? Are there some more options?
