So I've been thinking about taking a hori-hori into the field for a test spin, ultimately to replace my trowels. It seems like a Swiss army gardening knife. Apart from being concave for digging, it cuts roots, branches, sod, opens bags, cuts rope/twine, etc. The blade even has measurements for planting bulbs at proper depths.
